The Lord Mayor

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool is the first citizen and chosen representative of the city, acting as a focal point for the community as well as promoting the city, forging national and international links.

The role of the Lord Mayor includes:

  • Representing the city at civic functions and engagements.
  • Promoting the city nationally and internationally.
  • Supporting local charities and community groups.
  • Attending religious events of all denominations.
  • Meeting delegates from twinned cities.
  • Chairing council meetings.
  • Conferring Honorary Freemen and Associations.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool is always a serving councillor, elected by the full council at its Annual General Meeting held each May, and stands for one year in office.

The current Lord Mayor is Councillor Sharon Sullivan

Your Charity of the Year?

Did you know that Liverpool's Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal has helped raise over £1 million for local good causes?

This is the charity of the first citizen of Liverpool - which for 2012/13 is Councillor Sharon Sullivan.

The Lord Mayor is being supported by Councillor Gary Millar, the Deputy Lord Mayor.

We would both really appreciate your help and ask that you consider making The Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal (Liverpool) your Charity of the Year. It doesn't matter if its for a calendar year or a financial year, as your money will help local charities now and in the future. The Charity Registration No. is 229539.

We are also asking friends, partners, businesses and the public sector to organise sponsorship, events, dinners, marathons, challenges, etc. to raise as much money as is possible.
